Cycling

What should I bear in mind if I travel by bicycle?

In Switzerland, the bicycle is a popular, everyday means of transport. It is worth taking out a third-party liability insurance so that you are insured for any damage that you cause as a cyclist.

No test and no special licence are required to travel by bicycle on the roads, but cyclists need to know and abide by the traffic regulations.

Road safety is also an important issue for cyclists. Ensure that your bicycle is always well maintained – with brakes working well, front and back lights, fully inflated tyres, etc. And whenever possible you should use a cycle helmet which will protect your head in the event of an accident.
