Integration agreements

What is an integration agreement?

The Swiss Federal Act on Foreign Nationals attaches great importance to the integration of foreigners. It stipulates that the issue of a residence permit can be associated with conditions and it may be necessary to attend language or integration courses. The specific obligations are agreed with the immigrant and set down in what is known as an integration agreement.

Since spring 2012 the canton of Grisons has concluded integration agreements with people from third countries who are joining their families. The aim of these is to conduct a personalised assessment of each person, to highlight the benefits of linguistic and social integration and set out the specific steps towards acquiring the language.

Individual integration recommendations are given to adolescents who have recently moved from EU/EFTA states, to promote their long-term social and professional integration.
