Sexual health and rights

Where can I find information and advice on sexuality?

Sexual health is the term used to describe a state of physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing with regard to sexuality. This requires a respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships. The opportunity to enjoy pleasurable and low-risk sexual experiences, i.e. free from duress, discrimination and violence, is also important.

In Switzerland, all sexual activity is voluntary. No-one can be forced to have sex. Every individual has the right to physical integrity. Mutilation or circumcision of the female sexual organs is prohibited, regardless of whether it is performed in Switzerland or abroad.

Answers to questions about sexual rights, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy and birth, terminations of pregnancy, sexuality and partnerships can be found online or obtained from an advice centre.
